Simple Chocolate Bark

If you are looking for a healthier treat option for your family, look no further than this easy chocolate bark recipe. My oldest daughter just turned four and “candy” and “treats” are offered everywhere we go. It was easier to shelter her from sugar when she was younger but now as a curious and smart four-year-old, she’s seeing the popularity of candy and treats and wanting to partake. Now, I’m no purist- my daughter gets cupcakes and treats at birthday parties and on special occasions, but I am still very committed to keeping our home treats made with ingredients I feel comfortable with. At the tender age of four her microbiome is still developing and her body is more sensitive to sugar. In my personal opinion (sorry in advance for the mini rant!) it’s incredibly frustrating that there is such a lackadaisical attitude towards sugary, addictive foods that highjack our kids tastebuds. Not to mention their behavior after eating said foods. With all that being said, I still love a sweet treat and I want my children to enjoy the ritual of savoring a homemade candy bar or cookie made with ingredients I trust. It’s a balance for sure but having fun treats in my recipe box to whip up whenever has made the experience of enjoying the finer things in life much more fun with my family!

This chocolate bark is not only easy to make, but the process of making it is extra fun when you get your eager to help toddlers to jump in and lend a hand. From spreading the melted chocolate onto a parchment lined baking sheet, to sprinkling all the toppings on, it’s a hands on experience!

  4. Once firm break into individulal pieces and store in the freezer in a sealed container for up to 3 months.
